Costa Sunglasses Partners with The EDDIE® Big Wave Invitational

Opening ceremony of the revered surfing event kicks off on Friday, December 6, in Waimea Bay, North Shore, Hawaii

The EDDIE® Big Wave Invitational, in memory of Eddie Aikau, is more than just a surf contest—it’s a powerful celebration of Hawaiian culture, big wave athletes, and the enduring legacy of Eddie Aikau. As the prestigious event prepares for its 2024 opening ceremony at Waimea Bay this Friday, Costa is proud to continue its partnership in honoring Eddie’s memory and the spirit of watermen around the world.

As the Official Eyewear of The EDDIE, our partnership reflects a shared commitment to the ocean, dedication to sustainability and conservation, and the drive to inspire future generations to do the same. Leading into the opening ceremony and beyond, Costa will provide eyewear to all competitors, lifeguards and watermen who embody Eddie's legacy.

Costa Pro and big wave legend Mark Healey is an invitee in this year’s EDDIE and a true embodiment of the waterman ethos. Healey's deep connection to the ocean, extensive big wave experience, and reverence for Eddie’s legacy make him an incredible voice and advocate for ocean conservation, bridging the gap between the surfing world and the values Eddie Aikau championed.

Throughout the weekend, Healey and friends will be wearing Costa's newest hybrid and lifestyle frames, including Broadbill II, Clemente and Suenos, all equipped with Costa's 580® lens technology, to ensure they See What's Out There. Reflecting light away from the eyes, 580 lenses deliver an incredible contrast of colors and are available in a range of colorways. Recently added to the 580 lineup and serving as Costa’s most versatile lens, 580G Gold Mirror delivers a calming viewing experience.
